UANL stands out at the Festival Á Corps 2024

For the third consecutive year, the Dance Company of the UANL School of Arts and Humanities (FAE) proudly participates in the prestigious Festival À Corps in Poitiers.

The artistic excellence of Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) knows no bounds. As the Festival À Corps celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Dance Company of the School of Performing Arts (FAE) proudly represents Mexico in this esteemed international event.

Through the production ‘Ablution,’ under the direction of Sunny Savoy, the ensemble of five dancers will captivate audiences, prompting introspection on themes of belonging and resilience.

The À Corps Festival is jointly organized by the University of Poitiers, the Beaulieu Animation Center, and the Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers (TAP) in France, bringing together over 200 artists from diverse countries worldwide. For its thirtieth edition, participants from Brazil, Korea, Spain, France, Thailand, and Mexico will grace the event.

Both professional and university companies converge to offer a diverse array of activities, including choreographic performances, workshops, conferences, roundtable discussions, and dialogues between artists and academics. These activities serve as platforms for exchanging ideas on the body and its myriad transformations.

The 30th-anniversary edition took place from April 3 to 12. UANL participated on Friday, April 12, in the program of university artistic creation, sharing the stage with groups from eight higher education institutions from Brazil, Spain, and France. The presentations were scheduled at the Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers (TAP), Maison des Étudiants, and Maison des 3 Quartiers.

“Ablution” challenged preconceived notions and raised questions about our identity and place in the world.

Directed by Maestra Sunny Savoy, a distinguished choreographer, teacher, and director of the FAE Dance Company, this production is a testament to her artistic prowess. As a current member of the National System of Creators, Savoy’s remarkable achievements include nominations for the Lunas del Auditorio in 2009 and winning the UANL Arts Award in 2019, the Torreón Choreographic Award in 2008, and the “Guillermina Bravo” Choreographic Creation Award in 2001. Her choreographic brilliance has graced stages across North America, South America, and Europe.
