UANL deepens international connections
In 2025, the University will expand the number of agreements with institutions and organizations worldwide to support student mobility, dual-degree programs, academic exchanges, and joint research initiatives.
UANL maintains 258 academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation agreements with educational institutions and international organizations around the world.
Santos Guzmán López, President of UANL, noted that in 2025 the University formalized 24 agreements with institutions in 15 countries such as Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, Peru, and the United Kingdom.
“We aim to reinforce the relationships and cooperation that the University of Nuevo León maintains with the world’s leading nations, ensuring that our students continue to receive a comprehensive and excellent education,” he said.
Guzman Lopez detailed the University’s 258 current partnerships: 144 general agreements, 41 specific agreements, 38 academic mobility agreements, 13 letters of intent, 13 thesis co-supervisions, and nine double-degree programs, along with strategic collaboration with 49 international organizations.
As a result of these agreements, 572 undergraduate and 185 graduate UANL students studied abroad, and UANL received 206 international students, including 185 undergraduates and 21 graduate students.
Meanwhile, the University of Nuevo León welcomed 90 visiting academics from abroad, and 83 of its faculty members undertook academic stays outside Mexico.

Santos Guzman noted that, overall, UANL’s international mobility program involves universities in 35 countries on four continents—15 in Europe, 10 in the Americas, eight in Asia, and two in Africa.
These indicators were presented at the forty-second meeting of the International Advisory Council (IAC), which convened central administration officials along with school and high-school directors.
Growth in Dual-degree options
The University is also working to obtain international accreditation for its 403 academic programs. As of November 2025, it has achieved accreditation for 83 programs: 16 bachelor’s degrees, 45 master’s programs, 16 doctoral programs, and one specialty.
Thanks to the nine dual-degree agreements, 46 academic programs benefited, including 33 undergraduate and 13 graduate programs, with more than 200 students taking part.
In the meeting with the International Advisory Board, UANL President proposed expanding collaboration to other academic areas, such as dual programs that blend classroom study with professional practice in a company.
