University Hospital, a year on the COVID-19 frontline.

Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon through University Hospital has become one of the key allies in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Nuevo Leon and throughout the northeastern part of the country.

The Coordinator of Epidemiology informed that more than 30 thousand tests have been performed on both hospitalized and ambulatory patients, and about 1,600 people have been hospitalized.

A year after the SARS-CoV-2 virus began to spread massively in the state and throughout Mexico, the University Hospital has been at the forefront, in both patient care and in the development of research to combat and prevent the disease. The UANL Covid area has registered more than 30,000 outpatient visits since the beginning of the pandemic in the state. This, according to Dr. Adrián Camacho Ortiz, Chief of the Infectious Diseases Service of the Hospital.

At first, it was the lack of information about the new coronavirus, next they had to deal with contagions in health personnel, and later, there were patients in recovery who became reinfected.
These are all battles that University Hospital staff have been overcoming as the Covid-19 pandemic has progressed.
