Five years of care in Alzheimer and Neuropsychology

UANL's Alzheimer's, Dementia and Memory Clinic has been providing care to the community for five years thanks to its team of specialists in neuropsychology, geriatrics, social work, and psychology.

According to statistics from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, eight percent of the elderly population in Mexico suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. However, due to the aging process that the country is expected to face in the coming years, the percentage of people suffering from the disease could increase.

In view of this scenario, the University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González” offers the services of the Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Memory Clinic, a center that will celebrate its fifth anniversary on November 25, 2022.

The population has a highly specialized center for evaluating memory disorders available to everyone. Here we identify new cases of dementia, predominantly Alzheimer’s.”

The Clinic’s vision is to increase its workforce of specialists for a more accurate diagnosis in the early and initial stages of the disease while, simultaneously, getting people to start asking questions about their memory condition once they reach the age of 60.

For this reason, Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, through the University Hospital, seeks to raise awareness about this type of disease so that people go to check the state of their memory, just as they do when they check their blood pressure or diabetes.
