Santos Guzman Lopez, UANL’s President-Elect.

Based on the powers conferred by the articles of the Organic Law, the Board of Governors has appointed Santos Guzman as UANL's President from October 28, 2021, to October 27, 2024.

Based on his work plan, his experience, and service, as well as the support of the university community, the Board of Governors of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon designated this afternoon Dr. Santos Guzman Lopez as the next President of the Institution.

Based on the powers conferred by the articles of the Organic Law, the Board of Governors has appointed Santos Guzman as UANL’s President from October 28, 2021, to October 27, 2024.

The call for applications was launched on May 3, and four other candidates from the university community registered with Guzmán López to assume the position of the current UANL President, Rogelio G. Garza Rivera.

Four decades of commitment to the University

Dr. Santos Guzmán López (Dr. Arroyo, 1958) first became involved with the UANL in 1973, when he arrived in Monterrey to attend high school at Preparatoria No. 8, where he combined his studies with sports activities.

Subsequently, in 1975, he began his studies as a Surgeon and Obstetrician at the School of Medicine, obtaining his degree in 1981.

In 1983 he joined the teaching staff of the School of Medicine. In 1984 he completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a specialization in Occupational Health at the School of Public Health and Nutrition of the UANL.

In the area of knowledge dissemination, Dr. Santos has published 137 scientific articles in national and international journals, has actively participated in around 20 projects, and is the author of four books, and has collaborated in 15 other publications.

He has been a member of Sociedad Mexicana de Anatomia, the American Association for Anatomy and Sociedad Anatómica Española. He has been a member of more than 50 master’s and doctoral thesis; some of them with PAICYT or CONACyT support.
