175 years ago, the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo was signed and in order to commemorate this event, besides presenting updates on the latest research on the war between Mexico and the United States, the Virtual Colloquium “Reflexiones Historiográficas 175 años después” will be celebrated from February 1 to 4, 2022.

Universidad Autónoma de México and Universidad Autónoma de Baja California are hosting the virtual event. UANL Center for Documentation and Historical Archive will be represented by researchers César Morado, Coordinator of the Center for Humanistic Studies, Luis Enrique Pérez Castro and José Eugenio Lazo Freymann, coordinator of the journal Sillares, among others.

Claudia Roxana Domínguez García head of the UANL Center for Documentation and Historical Archive noted that the colloquium will provide an update on the data and positions that are known about this transcendental event for Mexico, especially for Nuevo León.

“In Monterrey we have emblematic sites. Remains of these battles have been found around Paseo Santa Lucia and the Clínica de Ginecología, that’s why this subject is of interest since these events are part of our history,” added Domínguez García.

Domínguez noted that institutional collaboration has been fostered through this kind of academic activity. “Reflexiones historiográficas 175 años después” is just the beginning of academic research activities of the UANL Center for Documentation and Historical Archive
