UANL students Efrain Villarreal Arreola and Jonathan Raymundo Torres Cardenas won bronze in the 38th edition of the Iberoamerican Math Olympiad 2023.<\/p>\n

Between September 6th and 12th, students from the UANL School of Physics and Mathematics<\/a> enthusiastically engaged in a spirited competition held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where they pitted their skills against peers hailing from across Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThis remarkable group has been actively participating in such competitions since 2019. The attainment of these two bronze medals in Brazil represents a significant advancement. In a previous competition held in Bulgaria, we did not secure any medals. This journey has been a gradual and purposeful one, culminating in our recent success in Brazil with the achievement of two bronze medals\u201d.<\/p>\n

“The primary objective of the Iberoamerican Mathematics Olympiad is to foster a passion for mathematics within the nations of the region. This esteemed competition seeks to identify and nurture the budding talents among our youth in the realm of mathematics, while also promoting fruitful interactions between students and their educators. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable platform for the exchange of pedagogical insights and educational experiences.”<\/p>\n

“As stipulated by the regulations, participants undergo two written examinations, each lasting four and a half hours, conducted on consecutive days. Within these examinations, there are three distinct problem-solving challenges presented in each test.”<\/p>\n

The Olympiad also had these students on board: Ricardo Daniel Puentes S\u00e1enz, Dayra Hern\u00e1ndez Rodr\u00edguez, and Irving Virgilio de los Santos Tamez.<\/p>\n
