{"id":87840,"date":"2023-01-05T12:23:28","date_gmt":"2023-01-05T18:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/?post_type=noticias&#038;p=87840"},"modified":"2023-01-05T12:23:28","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T18:23:28","slug":"uanl-outlines-a-strategy-to-prevent-cerebral-infarction","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/en\/noticias\/uanl-outlines-a-strategy-to-prevent-cerebral-infarction\/","title":{"rendered":"UANL outlines a strategy to prevent cerebral infarction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Gongora-Rivera, professor of the UANL School of Medicine presented, together with the Ministry of Health of Nuevo Leon, a program for the treatment of stroke, with the participation of professionals in the field, the academic sector, and the Ministry of Health of the State.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicina.uanl.mx\/en\/\">UANL School of Medicine<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicina.uanl.mx\/hu\/\">University Hospital<\/a>, in the framework of World Stroke Day, held a panel on the subject with the presence of the Ministry of Health of Nuevo Leon, Alma Rosa Marroquin Escamilla, in the auditorium of the School of Medicine and the University Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The panel was part of the thirteenth <em>&#8220;Curso sobre cuidados prehospitalarios y de enfermer\u00eda del infarto cerebral&#8221;<\/em> (Pre-hospital and nursing care training on cerebral infarction), which brought together experts in the field and included the participation of professors, students of the school, and the testimony of survivors of this disease, which is the leading cause of disability in people over 40 years of age in Mexico.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87841\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/ictus2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seeking prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to specialists, the Strategic Plan for Addressing Cerebral Stroke represents the efforts of health professionals, academics, and health authorities, who took as a basis the Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases in the WHO European Region 2018-2030<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Targeting inequality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fernando Gongora-Rivera suggested that the strategic plan must be adapted to local circumstances and the times it will be executed. Still, above all, he stressed that inequity must be attacked first<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87843\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/ICTUS3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Major vascular events occur in unemployed people, with housing in rural areas, homes lacking public services, uninsured and with limited education.
