A good example of this is a large number of Haitians entering the north of the country looking for a better future.<\/p>\n<p>This implies a great challenge for the government, NGOs, and other institutions, for example, human rights organizations and humanitarian aid organizations, says Jose Alfredo Jauregui Diaz, a researcher at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iinso.uanl.mx\/\">UANL Institute of Social Research (IINSO).<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-78886\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/haitianos-nuevo-leon-migracion-migrantes-mexico-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Refugee applications in Mexico &#8211; Figures from January through August of every year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than 77,000 migrants applied for asylum in Mexico in 2021, an increase of 222 percent compared to 2020. Hondurans, Haitians, and Cubans were prominent among those requesting assistance.
