Valente Mendoza, Edgar Ramirez, Jose Jimenez, and Fernando Vega established the fastest time of 03:02.89, earning the eighth gold medal for Mexico in the universiade. The previous record of 03:03.29 was set by Alejandro Cardenas, Oscar Juanz, Roberto Carvajal, and Juan Toledo at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics.<\/p>\n
