{"id":117844,"date":"2026-08-04T12:31:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/?post_type=noticias&#038;p=117844"},"modified":"2026-08-04T12:31:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:31:07","slug":"alfonso-reyes-poetry-reaches-italian-audience","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/en\/noticias\/alfonso-reyes-poetry-reaches-italian-audience\/","title":{"rendered":"Alfonso Reyes Poetry reaches Italian Audience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s official:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/uanl.mx\/\">Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Nuevo Le\u00f3n<\/a>\u00a0has kicked off<strong> Festival Alfonsino 2026<\/strong> by sharing Alfonso Reyes\u2019 legacy with the entire university community and the general public.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-117851\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Alfonso2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>On May 18<\/strong>, UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez cut the ribbon to open the exhibition <strong>La Italia de Reyes y Reyes al italiano<\/strong>, which led into the conference and book presentation of <strong>Ifigenia crudele e altre poesie<\/strong>, an anthology of poems by the Universal Regiomontano translated into Italian by <strong>Emilio Coco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-117847\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Alfonso4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that this edition of the Alfonsino Festival will be a space for gathering, reflection, and the enjoyment of literature. May each activity bring us a little closer to the richness of our cultural heritage and the enduring relevance of Alfonso Reyes\u2019s idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santos Guzm\u00e1n L\u00f3pez<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>UANL President<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-117849\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Alfonso3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>A Gift from the Old Continent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For his part, writer Jos\u00e9 Javier Villarreal noted that the Italian translation of a selection of Alfonso Reyes\u2019s poetry makes for a perfect gift for the University and readers in general.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmilio Coco is a poet; that is very important to emphasize. And in addition to being a poet, he is a great connoisseur of poetry, especially Spanish-American and Spani , and so the fact that he is now presenting us with this edition confirms that this is not something improvised. How wonderful that this is the age of translation, and how wonderful that it is happening here in our Capilla Alfonsina,\u201d noted the UANL Secretary of Outreach and Culture.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation of *Ifigenia crudele e altre poesie* took place from three distinct perspectives.
