Two high school students from \u00a0Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon<\/a>\u00a0(UANL) will represent Mexico in the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge <\/strong>(SIMOC).<\/p>\n

Following their participation in April in the 2026 Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO), students Ernesto Gadhiel Rodr\u00edguez Gallegos <\/strong>and Sara Trevi\u00f1o Renter\u00eda <\/strong>won gold and silver medals, respectively, and qualified directly for the international competition to be held in July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

SASMO is one of the largest math competitions on the Asian continent<\/strong>. The contest brings together students from elementary through high school and attracts more than 700,000 participants from 50 countries<\/strong>. The competition combines mathematical thinking with creative thinking to foster critical problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n

Thanks to his performance on the test, Ernesto Gadhiel Rodr\u00edguez Gallegos achieved a perfect score and a gold medal in the competition, which consisted of a 25-question test covering algebra, number theory, and geometry.<\/p>\n

Rodr\u00edguez Gallegos mentioned that, in addition to joining various math groups at CIDEB Obispado<\/a>, his love for mathematics stems from the training he receives at his high school.<\/p>\n

Both students will travel to Singapore for the competition, which will take place from July 17 to 21, 2026<\/strong>. The event will bring together students from around the world to compete in individual tests and group challenges.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Sara will travel to Southeast Asia with her father and her 13-year-old brother, Ram\u00f3n Ramiro, who also earned a spot in the international competition for middle school students.<\/p>\n

He will also compete in Central Asia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thanks to his performance in the qualifying round, Ernesto Gadhiel Rodr\u00edguez Gallegos also earned a spot to compete in the International Junior Math Olympiad <\/strong>(IJMO), which will take place in December <\/strong>in Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old from Monterrey is in his fourth semester at the Center for Research and Development of Bilingual Education (CIDEB) at the Obispado Campus. The UANL student will attend the international math competition alongside approximately 1,500 participants <\/strong>from some 50 countries around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
