{"id":111779,"date":"2025-08-14T07:21:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T13:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/?post_type=noticias&#038;p=111779"},"modified":"2025-08-14T07:21:58","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T13:21:58","slug":"doctorate-with-honors-for-varshika-sasidharan","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/en\/noticias\/doctorate-with-honors-for-varshika-sasidharan\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctorate with honors for Varshika Sasidharan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In recognition of her research on perovskite minerals, international student Varshika Puthan Veedu Sasidharan of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) graduated magna cum laude with a doctorate in Physical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Her diverse interests in science, technology, education, and art inspired this student from Palakkad, India, to explore innovative methods for synthesizing, characterizing, and applying perovskite\u2014with and without lead\u2014for use in photodetectors.<\/p>\n<p>UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez awarded the Indian student a doctorate in Physical Engineering, along with a magna cum laude certificate. During their meeting, the university president wished her success in her future research projects.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-111782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/entrevista-a-varshika-puthan-doctorado-en-ingenieria-fisica-uanl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThanks to her outstanding performance, the recent graduate received the magna cum laude distinction, making us at the University extremely proud to have trained someone of her talent in our classrooms. These achievements contribute to scientific and cultural enrichment and help position Nuevo Le\u00f3n\u2019s highest seat of learning in more and more parts of the world where knowledge prevails.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santos Guzman Lopez<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>UANL President<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon has all the facilities necessary for research, as well as excellent professors, students, and friends. The people are very helpful, and the opportunities available are excellent.<\/p>\n<p>I would highly recommend students from India and other countries to come and study at this university. I know that every year the number of international students enrolling for one or two semesters increases, and that is because of the unmissable opportunities offered by this institution,\u201d shared the South Asian student.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>A journey of challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hailing from Palakkad, India, Varshika Puthan Veedu Sasidharan began her academic journey at UANL in August 2021. Because of the university\u2019s educational quality and research focus, professors from her home country recommended that she continue her postgraduate studies at the Mexican institution.<\/p>\n<p>Although he initially faced challenges, such as the language barrier and the city\u2019s cultural context, the kindness of the local community, along with UANL\u2019s warm welcome and diverse research opportunities, made his stay in Mexico increasingly rewarding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-111784\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uanl.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/entrevista-a-varshika-puthan-doctorado-en-ingenieria-fisica-uanl-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1980\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At first, I didn\u2019t know any Spanish, but now I can manage to hold a conversation in the language. When I arrived, no one ever made fun of me for not being able to speak with them.
