5th International Symposium on Desert Cultures, \u201cDesert Wisdoms: knowledge, creation and culture\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

19 al 23 de septiembre de 2023, ciudad de Monterrey, Nuevo Le\u00f3n, M\u00e9xico<\/p>\n

Objective:<\/strong> To promote a multidisciplinary approach to the phenomenon of creation, not only in its aesthetic and artistic dimension, but in a broad spectrum of what it means to create: ideas, objects, communities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In this edition, we aim to motivate reflection on the different knowledge and wisdom that are outside the scientific norm and that have been the basis of the original desert cultures. We will also investigate different conceptual relationships between the arid and its borders (mountains, valleys, oceans, oases), from the conceptual and allegorical point of view, as well as from the concrete individual and community experiences that are lived in this ecosystem, with the aim of encouraging a relevant social praxis regarding what it means today to inhabit the deserts.
\nThe symposium is structured on the basis of five basic activities of social retribution and incidence, as well as dissemination and divulgation. Access to the symposium’s activities is free of charge. The organizing committee of the RED, together with the host committee, proposes the following areas of knowledge for the presentation of papers, workshops, and documents.<\/p>\n

\n– Desert Anthropological Sciences
\n– Education and humanities
\n– Welfare and Domestic Reproduction
\n– Economics and sociology
\n– Desert heritages
\n– Arts<\/p>\n
