The UANL School of Agronomy Achieves Certification
The Mexican Committee for the Accreditation of Agronomic Education (COMEAA) acknowledged the quality of three UANL undergraduate degree programs.
The UANL degree in biotechnology engineering was awarded for its quality and constancy by the Mexican Committee for the Accreditation of Agronomic Education.
Additionally, the academic programs in agronomic engineering and food industry engineering were re-accredited by the same entity with validity until 2022.
More than 1200 students of the School of Agronomy will benefit of this since four of the undergraduate programs are supported by this acknowledgement.
Rogelio Tovar Mendoza, Director General of this Committee handed the official documents to Rogelio Garza Rivera, President of the UANL; Alejandro Sergio Del Bosque Gonzales, Dean of School of Agronomy; and to all degree coordinators.
“With this accreditation the School strengthen three federal policies: coverage, infrastructure improvement, and academic quality” Garza Rivera stated.
The Dean of the School of Agronomy highlighted three important aspects for accredited educational programs:
1. Companies have witnessed that graduates have more confidence due to the skills and abilities that are required to develop the job.
2. The Federal funding sources as Programme for the Strengthening of the Academic Offer (PFCE), the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), provide wider support for infraestructure development and laboratory equipment, as well as the recognition of education.
3. Research Staff, who performs linkage and professional services, obtain better and moderns equipment from developing their work and positive result of their activities.
Rogelio Tovar Medoza, General Director of Mexican Committee for the Accreditation of Agronomic Education, mentioned that this certification implicates a increasing demand and commitment for the future, consequently the progress for quality will be keep it.
Mexican Comitte for the Acredittation of Agronomy Education aims to promote the use of self-assessment systems in order to update academic programmes, training methods, and innovative content to provide high-quality education”, said Tovar Mendoza.
Four of our Undergraduate programs are acnlowledged by the Interinstitutional Committee for the Evaluation of Higher Education.
In addition, the Engineering in Food Industries is also acknowledged by the Acreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The last year, CONACYT endorsed the Graduate Dregree in Animal Science as a graduate degree with high quality standards wich remains in force until 2021. This graduate degree is offered in collaboration with the School of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics.
