The senior category of the Male Basketball team won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP of the National Basketball Students League (LINABE, for its Spanish acronym) in the years 2000 and 2003, with the instruction of Coach Manuel ‘Meme’ Saenz. Likewise, the Female Basketball team won, for the first time in history, the same Championship in 2003, with the direction of coach Arturo Reynoso.
Additionally, it is necessary to point out that, for the fourth consecutive year (2005-2004-2003 and 2002),  ‘Tigres’ volleyball team, coached by Prof. Juan Marciano Garza Salinas, won the National Championship of Federation. In 2004, that team brought the Tigre Volleyball Cup to the Public Higher Education Institutes where the ‘Tigrillas’ team played a distinguished role as well.
Among the Annual Awards given by INDE to the best athletes, some of those who have been honored with this prize were students of UANL: Edgar Salazar (frontenis), Sandra Gongora (bowling), Alonso Murayama (karate), Patricia Palencia (cycling), Eduardo Gomez (karate), Mayra Rosales (soccer) and Samantha Salas (racquetball), among others.

As for the National Sports Award, given by the Federal Government, some athletes of our University have reached the award: Raul Gonzalez Rodriguez ‘El Matemático’, the frontenis players’ brothers Edgar and Jaime Salazar, and the racquetball player, Paola Longoria.

It is worth highlighting the National Youth Football Championship in the Onefa’s seasons of 2009 and 2010.
Regarding the Autenticos Tigres team, they have reached the title of the Onefa’s Major League in the years 1974 and 1977 with the help of Cayetano Garza, and in the year 2009 headed by Pedro Morales Corral.

On its athletic growth, UANL sent five representative students to the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 and three athletes to the First Youth Olympics of 2010.

Also, 31 students participated in different sport competitions of the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez on 2010, and carried on their hearts the blue and gold colors, representing our country in the sports field.
